Additional Notes: Greg lists this edition as bibliographically independent, though he notes that there is "no evidence" it was "ever issued separately" (Bibliography, 3:1032). Wing only lists it under the collection number (N877). Annals dates the first production of this play to 1639-1642, but N. W. Bawcutt supplies a transcript of Henry Herbert's license from 1641: "Variety Com: with several reformations made by Shirley 1641. My Lod Newcastle, as is said hath some hand in it. 1641 allowed upon review without exception" (The Control and Censorship of Caroline Drama [Clarendon, 1996], 209).
